Fast Dublin Holyhead ferry

Booked the Dublin Swift. It was fast. Got there on time. Easy to get on and off with the car. No problems. Good trip.

Loved the Dublin to Holyhead trip!

Oh my goodness, the Dublin to Holyhead ferry was just fantastic! The Ulysses ship was so comfortable, and the journey flew by. I even upgraded to Club Class, and it was totally worth it for the peace and quiet. Everything was super smooth, from boarding to disembarking. I will absolutely book with Irish Ferries again for my next trip across the Irish Sea. Recommending to everyone!

Detailed trip: Dublin to Cherbourg

My family and I took the Dublin to Cherbourg ferry on the W.B. Yeats. Booking online was straightforward, and I received a confirmation email quickly. We opted for a pet-friendly cabin, which was clean and comfortable for our dog. Boarding took a bit of time, maybe 45 minutes from arrival to getting onto the ship, but it was organized. Onboard dining was decent, typical ferry food, nothing fancy but it filled us up. Disembarking in Cherbourg was efficient. The ship to shore wifi was a bit spotty at times, especially mid-crossing, but otherwise, a solid experience for such a long journey. Customer service responded to an email query about pet rules within a day.

Consistent service on Ulysses

This was my third time taking the Ulysses ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. What I appreciate is the consistency. The check-in process is always the same, and the ship's facilities are reliably clean. I usually book a car ferry crossing, and loading/unloading has always been efficient. It's why I keep coming back to Irish Ferries for this route. They just make it easy, which is a big plus when traveling with family.

Good value for Rossslare to Cherbourg

I booked the Rossslare to Cherbourg ferry and was looking for the best deal. I managed to get an early booking offer, which saved a good chunk of money. The overall price felt reasonable for a long crossing, especially with the cabin included. It felt like I got good value for my money, and the self-drive holiday package made it easy to plan. Definitely worth considering if you're watching your budget.

Decent service, minor issue

I used Irish Ferries for a Rossslare to Pembroke crossing with my car. The booking process was simple, and the price was fair. The Isle of Inishmore ferry itself was clean enough, and the journey was smooth. My only minor gripe was that the onboard cafe had run out of a few popular items by the time we got there, which was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, it was a perfectly acceptable way to travel. Customer service was helpful when I called to clarify baggage limits before traveling.

Thinking of booking Dublin to Holyhead for next month, how long does the fast ferry actually take?

N Nancy Gomez 1 day ago
The Swift is pretty quick, usually around 2 hours, 20 mins if I remember right.

Yeah, if you get the Dublin Swift, it's pretty fast. The other boats take longer, like 3.5 hours or something.

My mate said there was some Black Friday deal last year for Irish Ferries. Are those usually good, or just small discounts?

B Brittany Lewis 3 weeks ago
They usually have pretty decent Black Friday sales, often on the longer routes or for next year's travel.

Yeah, I got a good chunk off a Rosslare to Cherbourg trip a couple years back, like 20% off. Worth waiting for if you can.

Anyone know if you can actually bring your dog on the ferry to France? Like, not just leave them in the car.

K Katie Mitchell 3 days ago
They have pet-friendly cabins on the France routes. Book early though, they go fast.

I've seen people walking their dogs on deck in certain areas too, but yeah, def check for pet cabins. Made a huge difference for my golden retriever.

Do I actually need a passport to go from Dublin to Holyhead? Or is ID enough?

K Karen L. 3 weeks ago
You don't need a passport if you're an Irish or UK citizen, just photo ID.

A Ashley Lee 3 weeks ago
Pretty sure just a valid photo ID like a driver's license is fine for Irish/UK folks between the two countries.

Anyone know if Stena Line is better for the Ireland to UK routes? Or is Irish Ferries pretty much the same?

S Sarah Evans 6 days ago
Honestly, they're both pretty similar. Sometimes one has better times or slightly cheaper fares, worth checking both.

I've used both quite a bit. Irish Ferries' fast ferry is a big plus if you're in a hurry. Otherwise, not a huge difference in comfort or service really.
